Andy Ward
Chief Executive
Andy Ward is an internationally recognised television executive and producer whose delivery of large-scale projects for broadcasters and brands has made him highly respected and well connected throughout the world. He is currently Executive Producer of the Zero G Colony project, an ambitious partnership with Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic group which will create an annual music, space travel and new technology Festival event at New Mexico’s Space Port. He is also working on a number of television formats for international distribution, is a consultant to a number of production companies and created Ward Media Ltd in 2013 as a vehicle for all his business activities.
For 13 years before this he was Director of Business Development for Endemol International, having joining the Endemol group in the UK in 2000. Upon joining Endemol he produced his fifth Brit Awards show for ITV, and executive produced a wide range of entertainment shows and events including The BAFTA Film Awards, Miss World and Party in the Park. He co-created and developed Sky One’s hugely successful sports entertainment series The Match, co-created Fashion Rocks for Channel 4 and the Princes Trust and created, developed and executive produced Channel 4’s annual UK Music Hall of Fame series. Before that he was Editor in Chief of the world’s biggest-ever live television production – the BBC’s 28-hour 2000 Today millennium event which linked more than sixty countries in one of the world’s most ambitious telecasts. It achieved record ratings for a New Year’s Eve show and entered the record books as the longest live entertainment programme in history.
He has extensive experience of working with major brand partners including One Tel, Heineken, Lynx, Pepsi-Cola, Vodafone, Orange and Coca Cola (India). He has produced television events all over the world including the USA, Mexico, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, India, Germany, France, China and of course the UK. His recent work has seen a shift towards new media projects, which has included managing a global creative partnership between Endemol and games giant Electronic Arts and a radical overhaul of National Lottery operator Camelot’s broadcast and on line strategy for the next 12 years. His other major credits include producing or executive producing The Placido Domingo World Opera Contest in Mexico, The 99 a 26 half hour superhero animation series for worldwide TV and several awards shows in India for News Corporation. One of his earliest successes was One World One Voice for the BBC, which united more than 300 musicians from Sting to the Leningrad Symphony Orchestra in a global chain letter of music.
Ward has extensive experience in creating and managing large production teams, devising, producing and selling complex and large scale formats internationally and has a strong understanding of television and new media markets and business structures. During his career he has worked directly with a wide range of broadcasters, including Fox (USA), Fuji (Japan), NHK (Japan), Channel 4, ITV, BBC 1,2,3,4, Sky, Star TV Asia, Five, Channel [V] Asia, DR (Denmark), Turner, PBS, Channel 9 Australia, A&E, Televisa (Mexico) and News Corporation to name but a few.
